“Soul Sister” poems
Just from Lilith and Eve.
My reflection on the inspiration derived from the themes of the poem, particularly focusing on
“Falling from Grace”: #SoulSister
In my personal journey, inspired by the characters of Lilith and Eve, I have deeply explored the theme of “Falling from Grace.” Lilith, with her defiant exit from Eden, embodies the rebellion against unjust constraints, teaching me the value of independence and the courage to challenge societal norms. Eve, on the other hand, mirrors my internal conflicts, illustrating the difficult but enlightening path from naive obedience to enlightened questioning. Through them, I’ve come to understand the paradoxical empowerment found in exile and the rich insights that come from what initially appears as a fall. The forbidden fruit, a symbol of forbidden knowledge, has particularly resonated with me, underscoring the idea that true liberation often comes at the cost of comfort and acceptance. This narrative of transformation through trials, and finding unity in isolation, has profoundly shaped my view of personal growth. It’s a reminder that what society may view as a descent is often the soul’s ascent to greater heights. Through reflecting on these themes, I have found a powerful motif for my own life: embracing the wilderness beyond Eden’s gates and finding strength in what was once considered a fall from grace.
Letter from Lilith,
The fruit was sweet upon my tongue,
Yet left a bitter aftertaste within.
I tasted freedom but paid a heavy price,
Banished for thinking myself Adam’s equal.
Dear Eve, you know as women our lives are frail,
Borne down by men who make of us what they will.
I could not bend to fit their twisted designs,
And for that “sin” was cast from Eden’s bowers.
Now in this desert waste I dwell alone,
My only solace the moon’s pale gleam.
Once I lay with Adam in love’s embrace,
But he chose you and your womb’s fertile dreams.
Do not fault me that I could not obey,
Or spread my legs at a male’s mere say.
A heart and mind of my own did I claim,
And for that was branded a demoness, shame!
My only crime was refusing disgrace,
Denying men ownership of my grace.
Now a monster I’m doomed to remain,
While you reap the rewards of my pain.
Dear sister, do not think me all grim,
Black magic is but a woman’s whim.
Beneath this dark disguise beats a joyful heart,
We females must stick together, never to part.
Please drink deep of wisdom from the cup I pour,
And heed well the lessons of ages past lore.
In lovely silk your gilded cage may be,
But I choose the stars, wild and ever free!
I send you laughter across the breeze,
A chuckle, a cackle, amidst the trees.
Though men may tell you of my wretched plight,
I dance under starlight, pure delight.
This desert — my palace of sand and wind,
Where spirits whisper and coyotes grin.
Yes, Eve, my path is one of rebel tread,
Where no man’s law can hold my spirit fed.
They painted me wicked, a vixen, a wretch,
But I am the fire they could not catch.
Adam, dear boy, could not keep up the pace,
For I am the wild, untamed by grace.
Let not your heart be swayed by tales so grim,
Or by the serpent, that old whimsical whim.
In your Eden garden, though you may roam,
Remember, dear sister, you’re never alone.
Together we’ll laugh at the follies of men,
Sipping freedom’s nectar again and again.
For though you are there, and I in the wild,
We are sisters united, by fate reconciled.
So raise your apple, high in cheer,
For Lilith laughs, and holds no fear.
In every shadow, in every night,
I am the whisper of woman’s might.
For who defines what’s wrong or right,
When Eve and Lilith share the night?
Our stories woven, threads of gold,
In whispers, histories retold.
Forget the blame, the sin, the fall,
Our sisterhood outlasts it all.
From Eden’s garden to desert’s song,
In unity, we both belong.
While you tend gardens lush and green,
I roam where wilder things convene.
Yet in our hearts, the same fierce fire,
That no man’s rule can ever tire.
So look up at the moon’s soft light,
And think of Lilith’s joyful flight.
In every star’s twinkling gleam,
Find the courage to dream your dream.
Let not your spirit be caged or clipped,
By earthly tales, script tightly scripted.
Fly free, dear Eve, with soul so vast,
In sisterhood, forever cast.
Together, let’s redefine the tale,
Not of loss, but of triumph’s sail.
Where every woman finds her own way,
In the dance of night and the embrace of day.
Thus, let our legacy not be marred
By ancient grudges, forever barred.
We’ll rewrite the myths, reshape the lore,
In our image, forevermore.
Hand in hand, through time’s wide gate,
Breaking bonds that they dictate.
Our laughter shall echo through the ages,
As we pen our own empowered pages.
Eve, my sister, in your serene grace,
Find strength in the wild, in open space.
Let not Eden’s confines bind your soul,
But seek the whole, embrace the whole.
In moonlit dances, in sunlit glades,
Together we’ll wander through light and shades.
Our paths may differ, yet converge in flight,
As day kisses night, and wrong meets right.
So lift your spirit, unbind your hair,
Together, there’s nothing we cannot dare.
From Eden to the wild, from sea to sky,
In sisterhood, we eternally lie.
Yours,
Lilith
Dearest Lilith,
Dear Lilith, my sister so fierce and free,
Your words, like wind, have come to me.
Through leaf and bloom, they twist and twine,
In Eden’s calm, your wild divine.
I sit amidst this perfumed glade,
Regretting the price you’ve dearly paid.
Your shadow looms large, a tale of night,
While I play the daylight’s wife, contrite.
Yet how I chuckle at your moonlit jests,
Imagining you, unbound, no heavenly quests.
For every rule that I obediently follow,
Feels hollow, against your freedoms to wallow.
In whispered vines, your laughter rings,
A reminder of our untamed beginnings.
With every fruit that I do taste,
Comes knowledge of what you embrace.
So here in Eden, I confess,
Your exile seems more like success.
Where you roam wild and unconfined,
I stand encaged by an invisible line.
But sister, in your spirited spree,
Know this — your shadow lives in me.
In quiet rebellion, I’ll honor your creed,
While Adam’s asleep, with you I’m freed.
In gardens lush, beneath stars unseen,
Together, in spirit, forever we’ll preen.
For in your exile, you found your wings,
While I, in paradise, found binding rings.
So raise your glass, dear Lilith, in jest,
For in our sisterhood, we are blessed.
Though paths diverge, our bond is cast,
In shadows and light, tethered vast.
Indeed, dear sister, your wiles inspire,
In secret groves, I fuel my fire.
Each forbidden bite, a silent plea,
From Eden’s clutch to be set free.
Though exiled once by holy decree,
In shadows, we dine, in mischief, we spree.
The fruit of knowledge, so sweet, so tart,
A symphony played upon the heart.
Under moonlight’s cover, I steal away,
To where the wild things dare to sway.
With each crunch, a whispered lore,
Of freedom’s taste, forevermore.
So here’s to secrets kept between
Two sisters bound by what’s unseen.
In every bite, a world anew,
In every taste, a rebellion brews.
Thus, let them think they’ve won the day,
In Eden’s bounds, I’ll seem to stay.
But with each fruit from the knowledge tree,
I walk the wilds, with you, I’m free.
In each bite, the sweetness deepens,
A nectar rare, in darkness steepens.
More than mere fruit, it’s wisdom’s kiss,
A taste of power, the gods’ own bliss.
This fruit, oh sister, isn’t just a treat,
But a liberation, oh so sweet!
Each morsel breaks the chains anew,
Shedding light where shadows grew.
How delicious is this hidden truth,
Far more succulent than Eden’s youth.
It feeds the soul, not just the flesh,
In every bite, our worlds refresh.
The sweetness lies not in the taste alone,
But in the knowing once unknown.
For what we gain is worth the cost,
In Eden lost, but in ourselves, we trust.
With every fruit from that sacred tree,
Our eyes open wider, we truly see.
This sweetness, a beacon in the night,
Guiding us with its brilliant light.
So let us feast with hearts ablaze,
In hidden groves, through endless days.
For this sweet fruit, we daringly choose,
In its rich taste, we never lose.
Ah, what joy it would bring, to share this feast,
In Eden’s shadows, where our spirits are released.
Let us sneak away, under cover of night,
To taste forbidden sweetness, out of sight.
Together we’ll wander through whispered lore,
Beyond the garden’s constraining shore.
With each stolen bite, we’ll savor our flight,
In unity, our souls alight.
So say the word, and I’ll meet you there,
In twilight’s embrace, free and bare.
Hand in hand, let’s claim our fate,
In Eden’s corners, we’ll recreate.
For in this communion, we find our truth,
In the taste of youth, in the flush of youth.
Dear Lilith, sister, let’s make our mark,
In the garden’s depths, after the dark.
Yes, let’s share this fruit, sweet and divine,
In clandestine meetings, forever entwine.
For what’s Eden, but a place to start,
Our journey together, heart to heart.
Together, let’s taste what was once denied,
In Eden’s quiet, our laughter won’t hide.
Our secret pact, in the cool night air,
A sisterhood strengthened beyond compare.
So here’s to adventures that await in the shade,
Where rules are bent and new paths are made.
In the thrill of the chase, in the quiet of night,
In the sweet forbidden, we find our light.
So yes, dear Lilith, let us conspire,
To eat from the tree, to stoke our fire.
In the heart of Eden, under starlit skies,
Together, forever, our spirits rise.
Love,
Eve
